Mardaani Movie Review | |
Review By : Anupama Chopra Rating : 3/5 Site : Hindustan Times | Post-interval, the story derails considerably. By the time we get to
the climax, we are fully in avenging angel territory. And, just like in
Singham Returns last week, the solutions suggested are problematic. Which is a shame, because this could have been so much better. In the rating above, one star is for Rani who, like fine wine, is only getting better. Visit Site For Full Review |
Review By : Saibal Chatterjee Rating : 3/5 Site :NDTV | Mardaani scores because it adopts an uncluttered approach to the tale of a fearless Mumbai crime branch officer who pulls out the stops to counter the wiles of a smooth-talking child sex trafficker in Delhi. Director Pradeep Sarkar, coming off the twin debacles of Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Lafangey Parindey after the high of Parineeta, hits all the right buttons this time around. Review By : Rohit Khilnani Rating :4/5 Site :Indiatoday | Mardaani is a crime drama, which is packed with action and thrills. Rani Mukerji plays a tough cop who does her job with her heart and mind. She puts in her blood and sweat to bust a human-trafficking racket. The show she puts together on the big screen is simply awesome! Visit Site For Full Review |
Review By : Rajeev Masand Rating : 3/5 Site :CNN-IBN | The real plot kicks in when Shivani starts probing into the disappearance of a poor girl from a homeless shelter...an investigation that leads her to uncover an organized sex trafficking racket. Soon she's involved in a cat-and-mouse chase with a mysterious drugs-and-prostitution kingpin (Tahir Bhasin), but to reach him she must get through a maze of accomplices. Visit Site For Full Review |
Review By : Taran Adarsh Rating : 3/5 Site : Bollywood Hungama | The premise of the film, first! Shivani [Rani Mukerji], Senior Inspector, Crime Branch, Mumbai Police, sets out to confront the mastermind behind the mafia, which makes the mistake of kidnapping a young girl, Pyari [Priyanka Sharma], out of the city. Pyari is close to Shivani and her family and in her obsessive hunt for the girl, she stumbles into the world of decadence and debauchery, cruel desires and exploitation. Visit Site For Full Review |
Review By : Sukanya Verma Rating :2.5/5 Site :Rediff | Mardaani travels between Mumbai and Delhi to unravel a kidnapping case assigned to senior inspector Shivani Shivaji Roy (Mukerji), who discovers some potentially whistleblowing information. Shivani doesn’t completely fit the standard ‘no-nonsense cop’ description. When her superior reprimands her on the phone for conducting a reckless raid, she jokes, 'Arre koi boss ki biwi ko shopping karwao. Visit Site For Full Review |
Review By : Mohar Basu Rating : 3.5/5 Site :Koimoi | The story gives you a lot of reasons to celebrate commercial cinema. Though I won’t agree that it is a well written intelligent film, but it is a film that devotes itself exclusively to a subject without falling prey to diversions. Stretching commercial cinema beyond the contours of Singham and Dabangg Pandey, Rani retains the realism of the story delivering the mesmeric action which has the look and feel of believability in it. Review By : Rohit Vats Rating : 2.5/5 Site : Hindustan Times | The constraints of popular Bollywood film are clearly visible throughout the film, and it doesn’t serve any purpose because enhancing drama part restricts the hard hitting subject to unfold properly. You don’t wait for the dangerous villain to act vehemently before grabbing him, especially when you’ve all the evidences against him. Visit Site For Full Review |
Review By : Shubhra Gupta Rating : 2/5 Site :Indian Express | Till the half-way mark, there isn’t a slack moment. In a walk-on role, Sengupta plays the cop’s spouse with the right degree of support and helplessness. And Mukerji’s Shivani does a good job of maintaining balance between a cop’s life at work and at home. Visit Site For Full Review |
Review By : Sarita A Tanwar Rating : 2.5/5 Site :DNA india | The film starts with Shivani meeting her team to catch a criminal from his home. It starts slow but you soon find yourself getting involved, as the hunt for the missing girl begins. It is not an easy film to watch. It is brutal and it takes you into a world, you would rather pretend does not exist. Mardaani holds more than a few surprises. Sarkar stays away from the cliches like marital trouble in Shivani's life after her husband is targeted by the gang she is hunting down. Visit Site For Full Review |
